The Forbes of the Micro Cap world sets its sights higher

on 2/23/2011

Investors need a constant stream of accurate, insightful financial news. Without it, they are investing in the dark; with insightful news, investors can make informed decisions and hopefully build a profitable portfolio. That's a goal that we have here at MetalsNews, but it's also a goal that the people at SNN Incorporated share.

SNN Inc. is a financial publishing, media and entertainment company most well-known for its video interviews and video press releases, and the popular Micro-Cap Review magazine.

At the recent Cambridge House Vancouver Resource Investment Conference, we spoke to SNN Inc.'s founder and CEO, Shelly Kraft, who talked about the Vancouver conference and about his company's most recent successes and their plans for the future.

"This conference is jumping," said Mr. Kraft. "There are 8500 attendees and 300 companies. I attend a lot of conferences and this conference is on the high-side of attendance. When you have gold at near-highs, when you have silver coming off  lows moving to new highs, and you've got copper jumping up, investors are looking around and saying, I am   making money, is it time to buy more, hold or sell?'. So they come here to looking for insight, information and strategies   to keep making money."

Mr. Kraft has certainly seen his share of conferences!  SNN is excited about an upcoming conference that is just a little different than the kind that most investors attend. "We go to so many different conferences but the exciting news is that we are a sponsor of the Mines and Money Show in Hong Kong, March 22 to March 25," Mr. Kraft explained. "For us, it's an achievement because we have a full-page ad in our magazine covering the conference and informing our subscribers. It's very important, new, and exciting for us to go to a conference like that and we're a media partner of the conference. There are going to be about 300 companies from the mining and resource sector. They have a program that brings investors throughout the world – mostly Asia – that pay a premium price to attend the event. There are no people walking around looking for pens, t-shirts and hats."

SNN is also taking the internet by storm with a recent re-launch of its websites, snnwire.com and stocknewsnow.com. Mr. Kraft said: "Another exciting piece of news is that our websites have been re-launched: These include SNNwire.com and StockNewsNow.com, where we have an enormous amount of news. Check them out! Additionally, microcapreview.com is the online digital magazine as SNN Inc. Is a green company”

SNN Inc. is definitely gaining attention, both for its excellence in video and magazine production, but also for its far-reaching expertise: "I've interviewed over 3700 CEOs on SNN Live," said Mr. Kraft. "And later he added, "Our video press releases are beginning to circulate around the world on the internet." These are great achievements so it's no surprise that SNN is getting the recognition it deserves.

As well, they are enjoying some success with an innovative and useful video production. Mr. Kraft explained: "We've done something called a "StockUmentary". It's a documentary for a stock. We go on site [to a company's business], we record for company due diligence and we transpose that into a video for a company that they can use at conferences, put into an investor package, and more."

These are all very exciting, but one of the crowning achievements highlighted at the Vancouver conference was SNN's magazine, the Micro Cap Review. This magazine, which is printed on recycled paper and printed with non-toxic ink, is available for free at conferences and digitally on their website. The magazine covers micro caps (public and private companies with market capitalizations of approximately under $300 million). Each issue features a different theme or industry, and the current featured industry is the resource industry.

Mr. Kraft showed us a copy of the magazine at the conference, and then described it for potential readers who might be interested in subscribing: "Our newest issue is an 80-page volume, and this issue focuses on resources. It features Rye Patch Gold (TSX: RPM), a mining company from Nevada. The magazine also contains an article about Lucas Energy; a Q&A with Phil Baker, the president of Hecla Mining; [an article about] Jerry Bailey, the former president of Exxon-Mobil middle east; an article on rare earth elements by Dr. Gordon Chu; and more, and a mix of fun articles, important articles, and very poignant articles."

The magazine looked great and could potentially offer some valuable insight for investors. And it was a recent testimonial from a reader at the Vancouver conference that gave Mr. Kraft a glowing review. Mr. Kraft said, "Someone came up to me after reading the magazine at this conference and said, 'Your magazine is the Forbes of the Micro Cap world."

Although the magazine doesn't always focus on the mining and resource industry, investors may still find the magazine a useful investing tool, especially if they are interested in balancing their portfolio with stocks from other industries. Mr. Kraft said: "Right now we're working on the biotech, healthcare, life sciences, and med-tech issue. Pro Pharmaceuticals is going to be on the front cover. It's a public company and if you haven't heard of them, go check them out. The highlight of my editorial is the fact that we are all going to be patients someday, so it's the biotech field that is creating the cures and treatments for common and rare diseases."

SNN is making aggressive strides towards even further success. And it's no surprise that they are gaining the attention of investors and CEOs worldwide because of their dedication to quality: "We were called 'the Forbes of the Micro Cap world' with the last issue of the Micro Cap Review, and we'd love to top it with this next issue. We try to make each issue better than the one before it."
