BEE targets overshadow 'real transformation' ??? Cronin

South African Communist Party (SACP) deputy general secretary Jeremy Cronin has warned against the pitfalls of letting black economic-empowerment (BEE) equity targets overshadow "real transformation". Cronin told Mining Weekly Online on the sidelines of a conference in Sandton, that South Africa has already nationalised its mineral resources by making the State the custodian of all rights. Yet the objective of distributing wealth more fairly has been compromised by an overemphasis on BEE equity targets.
